Dan Zanes

Named best new band by Rolling Stone in 1984, and combining with forces like Bruce Springstein, Dan Zanes’ resume includes hits like “Don’t Run Wild”, and “Hang on Sloopy”.

In 1991 Zanes began his solo career, and the New York Times Magazine called his music “cool” and added “mostly, though, Zanes kids’ music works because it is not kids music; it’s just music – music that is unsanitized, unpasteurized, that’s organic even.”

Zanes’ latest album Nighttime! is more “mellow”, and combines forces with Aimee Mann, John Doe, Lou Reed, and the incomparable Dar Williams. His newest album House Party is a “diverse instrumentation that, in addition to the usual guitars, banjos, upright bass, and drums includes such wild instruments as tuba, accordion, pump organ, djembe and saw.”
