Oxclove Wins Contract to Revamp SUNY
Ulster Web Site
- Hudson Valley Web Production Company Chosen Over National Competitors
-
(KINGSTON, NY) – Ulster County Community College, a two-year
college of the State University of New York (SUNY Ulster) located
in Stone Ridge, first mounted their web site in the late 1990s.
As the site grew larger and new information and functions were added,
college officials determined the architecture and navigation needed
to be completely revamped. Oxclove Workshop, located in Tech City,
Kingston, has been selected to re-design the web site.
“Although some re-design had been instituted by College staff,”
says Ann Marrott, vice president and dean of enrollment management,
“it was deemed advisable to give the site a totally new look
and enhanced features to assist prospective students. The audience
for the site is no longer just local, but regional and national,
because of users of the College's online course offerings. Our target
audience spans age groups from teenagers to adults, as well as interest
groups from parents and students to community members who attend
events or use the College library.” Since its founding in
1961, the College has conferred 14,000+ degrees and served over
400,000 students through its credit and noncredit courses.
Last year, SUNY Ulster turned to Oxclove Workshop for advice regarding
necessary changes to the web site. Through a request for proposal
(RFP) process, SUNY Ulster then considered a variety of national
firms to re-design the web site, including one in Iowa that specializes
in creating sites for colleges and universities. Ultimately, Oxclove
was awarded the contract.
“Oxclove offered a commitment to creativity in its web site
development, excellent technical expertise and clearly demonstrated
that it understood how the web site fits into our overall technology,
marketing and student service plans,” says Marrott. “All
of these factors were critically important in influencing our decision.”
Oxclove Workshop has previously proved its high level of qualifications
– from creating online marketing and e-commerce systems to
customized software programs and easy-to-use content management
systems – for a wide range of clients. They have successfully
completed projects for Caesar’s Pocono Resorts, Sure Deposit,
Ashokan Architecture, Kingston Regional Health and Kenco, among
many others,
“With every new client, whether a business, educational
institution, a non-profit organization or an individual, we carefully
assess needs within the context of measurable business goals,”
says Ric Dragon, CEO, Oxclove Workshop. “It’s crucial
to define not only just how a web site will look and feel but, more
importantly, will the site attract the right target audience? Does
the site allow visitors to easily and quickly find the information
they need? Before starting to produce a web site, we become part
of the process by partnering with our clients to identify clear
business goals and objectives,” he says. “This is, frankly,
one of our greatest assets as a web production company. Almost anyone
can create a web site these days, but few are able to create one
that really gets the job done right, one that produces measurable
results. We’re honored that SUNY Ulster has selected us to
create a site to help their raise their national profile.”
Oxclove Workshop, located in Tech City, Kingston, was founded in
1997, and merged with CSIG Inc. to form Empire iTech Group in 2004.
The company’s strengths include web site design and development,
integration of business strategies with Internet technologies, and
customized software design and development. For more information
